dc.description.abstractDeployable Shelter A hut. The simplest built shelter. From knowledge of simple shelters and the “hut” of architectural literature, a shelter is to be designed for rapid deployment in situations where existing housing has been destroyed. Prefabricated panels are arranged in an assembly derived from Maori traditions of binding and tensioning, to span a space and provide shelter. From the building of a full scale model, tests will be made of the firmness of the structural system and the utility of the building created. Observation of the prototype will determine by empirical evidence the success in detailing a system of parts which make transportation and assembly easy and efficient.en_NZ
